These symbols are not the same, damnit! - Pagan Rage

tamerterraFeb. 22nd, 2006 09:54 pm These symbols are not the same, damnit!

What is it with ignorant people insisting that the Star of David and various kinds of Pentagram are the same thing? Despite the fact that they are clearly different (unless you cannot count about five, of course), folk insist that because they are both 'stars,' they must be the same thing.

You're right.
But then, why not go on to elaborate what you've found each symbol to mean, to further illustrate precisely how they are not the same, not simply in shape, but in interpretation?

It's more that they wilfully deny any difference even in looks. Even if I did do a big long explaination, the response would still be ''Don't be stupid, they're the same.''

I find it amusing when peaple see my Pentacle and ask if I am orthodox. (meaning Jewish)...
What kills me is when pagans confuse pentacles and pentagrams...(circle and no circle)

Re: Stars

Well, that one is slightly less obvious... But practitioners really should know.
